Treating the inside of a tooth
Root canal treatment addresses inflammation or infection of the dental pulp, the soft tissue inside a tooth containing nerves and blood vessels. An examination helps determine whether the tooth can be preserved with this treatment.
What treatment involves
The affected pulp is removed, and the root canals are cleaned, shaped, filled, and sealed. The tooth then needs an appropriate restoration; a crown may be recommended depending on the tooth and the amount of remaining structure.
Comfort and follow-up
